Last 23rd of May, while CLIMAS partners met in Chios for our third General Assembly, two members from VUB and CambiaMO presented a poster at the Third Forum for the Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change.

The event took place in Brussels, Belgium, under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. On the first day, after site visits in three Belgian regions – Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels to explore regional initiatives towards climate change adaptation and resilience, attendees joined a networking event in the historic Town Hall of Saint Gilles.

On the second day, CLIMAS presented a joint poster with its sister project, AGORA. AGORA project coordinator Paola Mercogliano and Arianna Acierno from the communication and dissemination team met with our project representatives, Isabel Jimenéz from CambiaMO and Laura Temmerman from VUB. During the poster session, several Forum attendants stopped to ask for additional information. The team showcased preliminary results and a summary of latest events and activities in the different European regions for both projects. For CLIMAS, they ranged from scenario building activities in Living Labs to the actual implementation of CLIMAS Guidelines in the Catalan Climate Assembly. The main objective was that of raising awareness among policy makers and institutions about the relevance and potential of Climate Assemblies in addressing adaptation issues. Thanks to citizen deliberation and direct participation in delivering policy recommendations, cities and regions can compile their resilience and adaptation plans including perspectives from the local communities directly impacted by foreseen actions, thus increasing adoption and acceptance.

All fifteen (15) posters showcased during the event concerned initiatives that are actively addressing the challenges of climate change adaptation, focusing on practical cases, implementation aspects and societal impact.
