The CLIMAS Training Series has successfully concluded, delivering three dynamic online sessions that equipped participants with practical tools, real-world insights, and proven strategies for inclusive climate adaptation. Hosted by the CLIMAS project and organised by CLIMAS partner EIP – European Integrated Projects, the Series brought together policymakers, researchers, civil society actors, and local practitioners committed to reimagining how climate decisions are made.
CLIMAS Training n.1: Designing and Setting Up a Climate Assembly
Date: September 5, 2025
Session 1 focused on the foundational elements of launching a Climate Assembly. Participants explored how to structure assemblies that are inclusive, effective, and grounded in local context. You can check the video recording of Session 1.

- Lessons from the Catalan Climate Assembly, a leading example of citizen-led climate engagement.

CLIMAS Training n.2: Engaging Citizens and Deliberating on Future Climate Scenarios
Date: September 9, 2025
Session 2 emphasised the importance of moving beyond symbolic participation to genuine citizen involvement. Through case studies and interactive discussion, participants learned how to co-create climate visions that are bold, actionable, and rooted in community values.
Topics covered included:
- Strategies for deepening citizen engagement;
- Facilitating meaningful deliberation on future climate scenarios;
- Insights from the Riga Climate Assembly’s participatory process.

CLIMAS Training n.3: Monitoring and Follow-up of a Climate Assembly
Date: September 10, 2025
The final Session 3 was focused on what happens after a climate assembly and the importance of follow up and monitoring processes, tools and initiatives. It showcased practical tools that are helping reshape climate participation across Europe. Participants received hands-on demonstrations and explored how these tools can be adapted to their own local contexts. The video recording of Session 3 is available for viewing.

- Overview of digital and analog tools used in EU Climate Assemblies;
- Live demos and practical applications;
- Reflections on what works—and why—from real-world participatory processes.
This session provided a comprehensive toolkit for anyone looking to implement participatory methods in climate adaptation planning.
Building Capacity for Inclusive Climate Action
The CLIMAS Training Series was designed to support the growing demand for democratic innovation in climate governance. By sharing practical knowledge and lived experiences from across Europe, the series helped build capacity for more inclusive, values-based climate adaptation strategies.
Participants left with actionable insights, new connections, and a deeper understanding of how to centre citizens in climate decision-making.
