Guidelines for Climate Assembly Setting-up & Facilitation

As the global community confronts the multifaceted challenges of climate change, the need for innovative and inclusive decision-making becomes ever more pressing. Within the context of the CLIMAS project, this methodology offers a comprehensive approach to setting up and facilitating impactful Climate Assemblies.
Our primary contribution lies in focusing the citizens’ task on navigating policy trade-offs, projecting into future scenarios, and measuring effectiveness. At the same time, it aims to improve the governance of the process through the concept of balance. By doing so, the aim is to foster deliberations that are both deeper and more targeted, ensuring they are rooted in citizens’ values, experiential knowledge, and interests.
Before going deeper into what Climate Assemblies do, one might ask: what exactly is a Climate Assembly? And, what are the key principles of such processes?
