CLIMAS was presented at the EU info-session in Brussels in 12 October 2023

The National Contact Points (Flanders, Wallonia, Federal and FNRS) co-organised the event ‘Citizen Science in Horizon Europe proposals and projects’ presented at the eu info-session in Brussels. In the introductory part of the meeting, Gabriella Leo, Policy Officer from the European Commission – DG Research & Innovation, Open Science, introduced the concept of citizen science and the relevant policies. This was followed by a panel discussion with the four speakers. Carina Veeckman from VUB presented the projects ‘CLIMAS’, ‘UP2030’ and ‘Urban Releaf’.

During the panel discussion, several questions arised about the preparation, implementation and evaluation of the projects’ proposals, such as:

  • was citizen engagement explicitly mentioned in the Commission’s call text?
  • how were the citizen engagement aspects evaluated in the proposal evaluation form?
  • how are the citizen engagement aspects described in the proposal sections?
  • how are engagement strategies set up?
